My favourite video games during ISO

Disclaimer: I rarely play games. The only games I have been addicted to were The Sims (PC) and Restaurant City (Facebook app) when I was in high school and uni. So, that should give you an idea of my standards 😅

Overcooked 2 (PS4)

This cooking game is surprisingly addictive but it comes with a warning: playing this game may result in broken relationships or friendships. You can play this game on your own, but this game is more fun when you play it with more people.

The rules of the game are simple – prepare the ingredients, cook the food, and serve it to your customers. Sometimes, you will need to wash the dishes too. You have to complete a certain number of orders in a limited time to move forward to the next round. While that sounds challenging enough, the game added a few twists and turns to make cooking incredibly stressful!

Onion king is terribly disappointed with our scores 🙈

You will be preparing and serving sushi in a crowded restaurant where people just bump into you. You will be rafting on a fast-flowing river, chopping ingredients and tossing it to your co-player who is on another raft. From a fresh salad or chopped lobster to a pasta or pizza, you will be cooking a variety of dishes on this game. It may seem easy but sooner or later, you will realise that this multitasking game is a disaster waiting to happen. Eventually, you will start cooking inside a flying hot air balloon that is burning, well, that’s – that’s just horrific, frustrating, and impossible!

I found myself laughing hysterically while playing this game, and also screaming loudly at my partner (or vice versa) because we have to find our strategy to stop playing the same round all over again – it can get very exhausting! Nonetheless, at the end of the day, when you get that 3 stars – you secretly cheer and feel proud for your team 😉

Verdict: 8/10

Just Dance 2020 (Nintendo Switch)

While I am not a fan of going to the gym to exercise, Just Dance seems to be a fun alternative to working out.

Dancing to 'Just Dance' Game

You need ample space in your living room to play this game to avoid hitting your friend or partner while dancing to the tunes. The game is pretty straightforward – simply follow the actions projected on the screen and get high scores.

You can select from several songs and dance steps level (beginner to pro). We bought the 2020 version thinking we will have full access to all of their playlist; unfortunately, you need to pay a premium for most of their mainstream songs. If you think you’ve been dormant during quarantine, then this game might just be a good start in making you active. You have the option to simply beat the high score, or see how much calories you burn while dancing. And yeah, 3 songs is more than enough to make you sweat and pant 🥵

Verdict: 6.0/10

Animal Crossing

Whoops. This game cost AUD$69++ in Australia! I was not sure about it and the price did not help either. Hopefully, they will reduce it soon so I can purchase and play it 😆

Know some games you’d like me to play? Write them in the comments section below – and I’ll try to purchase it, find time to play it, and make a review next time 😀
